Through sports we learn to reach and stretch ourselves to do greater things, accomplish bigger goals, and to help others along the way. Bullets is an acronym for Better Understanding Lifes Lessons & Expectations Through Sports. The Bullets started in 1994 as a competitive amateur hockey organization who taught kids about more than just sports and winning, we teach kids about life. The purpose of the Bend Bullets 501c3 is to provide kids sports opportunities in Ice and Inline hockey. The non-profit allows us to help raise funds for children who wouldn't be able to afford participating in these sports on their own.
Since 1994 in the Bullets have been playing hockey in Central Oregon. From the days of the outdoor skating rink in Juniper Park, (where the juniper splash pad is now) to the Rock Rink and Roll roller skating rink along Greenwood Ave, fast forward to now our beautiful facility at Cascade Indoor Sports the Bend Bullets are one of the longest running inline hockey programs in the country. Current Bullet families often meet people in the community and around Bend who used to be Bullets themselves when they were younger.
One of the leading factors to the success of the Bullet organization is our amazing volunteers but even more importantly our coaches. From the early days with the founder Butch Roberts, who made numerous National Championship appearances as a coach and player to our current core of coaches who have lead the Bullets to 4 Championship titles in the past three years alone, the Bullet coaching staff is top notch.
The philosophy of the entire Bullet program is to grow the program the right way. We want to provide a recreational environment where players can grow, develop, have fun and learn to love the game. Our Bullet Development Program will take players who have an interest in the game and introduce them to the sport and a recreational program. The next step is to allow players to achieve the next level and play competitive travel hockey. This is where the Bullets program is well known across the nation with our history and achievements. The final step is to allow the players who want to continue their passion for the game to achieve the highest level of hockey they can by encouraging them to leave the nest and follow their professional dreams. We have had numerous Bullets who have gone off to much bigger and better things in the world of hockey and even professional hockey.
